Identify the client first

Use v2rayN on Windows, macOS, and Linux. For everyday Android use, choose v2rayNG; select v2flyNG when the subscription or configuration explicitly uses the V2Fly core. The names are similar, but their core paths and release versions are maintained separately.

Confirm the processor next

macOS requires a choice between Apple Silicon and Intel. Android requires a choice between arm64 and universal packages. Linux requires a choice between x64 and arm64. Architecture-specific packages are usually the most direct option; universal packages are useful when an Android device's architecture is unclear.

Match the package format

Use DMG on macOS and APK on Android; on Linux, choose deb or rpm according to the distribution. Windows offers Desktop and WPF interface versions—choose based on the interface technology and your existing workflow rather than installing both.

Import subscriptions after installation

After the first client launch, complete system permissions and proxy settings before importing the subscription URL. Should you download the v2rayN Desktop or classic WPF version for Windows?

For a first installation, the Desktop version is the preferred choice because it uses the latest cross-platform interface. Choose WPF if you prefer the classic Windows layout or need to keep an existing workflow. Both are v2rayN clients; the main differences are their interface technology and layout.

How can you tell whether a Mac uses Apple Silicon or Intel?

Open About This Mac from the system menu and check the Chip or Processor field. If it shows an Apple M-series chip, choose the Apple Silicon installer; if it shows an Intel processor, choose the Intel installer.

Should you download the arm64 or universal Android version?

Most mainstream Android phones released after 2015 use the arm64 architecture, so start with the arm64 installer. If the device architecture is unclear or the arm64 package will not install, try the universal version instead.
